Hump Day How-To: How do I Set Up ClearSlide Screen Share?

We often get a lot of questions about Screen Share –  The most common one being “How do I set it up?”

ClearSlide has made it extremely easy for anyone to set up Screen Share, the steps of which I will walk through below. First, let’s talk about our two different versions of Screen Share:

Screen Share for Chrome users
Chrome users can take advantage of our most advanced and easy to use screen share application. It’s easy to install, there are no updates to worry about, and you are able to select specific applications to share.

To get started with Screen Share on Chrome, start a screen share on chrome and click on the big blue Start Screen Share Button in the center of the screen.

You will have to add ClearSlide Screen share extension to Chrome, after which you will be able to start a screen share.

Javaless Screen Share lets you choose which window your client will see. And you can always pop back to this screen and choose another window when you’re ready to move on – you stay in complete control.

Screen Share for IE, Firefox, or Safari users
Users who our on IE, Firefox, or Safari will have a slightly different experience than that of their chrome counterparts – to get started they have to do a one-time download of Java from java.com.  Once it’s downloaded and installed, start a Live Pitch and then click the Screen Share button at the top of the screen. What happens next depends on your browser.

  • If you are on Internet Explorer or Safari, more likely than not you will have a dialog window pop up asking if you want to run Java, click yes and your screenshare will be off and running.
  • If you are on Firefox, you will have to authorize java to run. Look for small green building block on the top left of your search bar. This will allow you to unblock Java.
  • Once you allow the program to run, you will see a dialog box allowing you to run the program, authorizing it will start screensharing.

Java screen share has several advantages, mainly allowing participants to take control of your mouse and guide it around your screen, however it only shows the primary monitor.

For help or more information about which Screen Share option is right for you, don’t hesitate to reach out to your Relationship Manager.
